Day 1: Favourite Game in the Series

Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft

This was one challenging mofo. Tomb Raider III is like Gretchen Weiners’s hair. So big because it’s full of secrets. This game has so much going on and best of all, it never holds your hand. You’re launched into numerous spike traps the moment the game starts. There’s tonnes of diversity, not just in scenery but in the type of game it wants to be. It wants to be everything, and blends elements of exploration, action, stealth and horror seamlessly together. And best of all, you could get lost. Hopelessly lost. I guess in an age where games are afraid to let their players get stuck for fear of them getting frustrated and so provide numerous hints and helpful moments, I seem to cling to TRIII and its “I just don’t give a fuck” attitude. TRIII was less about getting to your goal and more about the experiences  you have on the way there. Dinosaurs in the South Pacific, aliens in Area 51, mutants in the London sewers - TRIII was crazy but I liked it….loca, loca, loca.
